2009 Valentine Sprint
Sponsored by the Penn-Ohio DX Society (PODXS)

PURPOSE
To work as many stations on 40/80/160 meters as possible in a maximum of six (6) hours using PSK31 mode.
This event is open to all amateur radio operators licensed to operate on the HF bands.

ENTRY CATEGORIES
POWER:  QRP up to 5 watts maximum, Low Power (LP) up to 50 watts maximum.
All Male Operators enter in the OM Category.
All Female Operators enter in the YL Category.
(So there are 4 Categories: YL QRP, YL LP, OM QRP and OM LP.)

PSK31 only

DATE
Friday, 13 February 2009, 2000 - 0200 (YOUR LOCAL TIME).
This event features a "rolling start" based on your local time to help equalize band conditions for all contest participants. (Note: this Sprint is not actually on Valentine's Day - we figured that wouldn't go over too well.)

EXCHANGE
Callsign, Name, either "OM" or "YL" and State/Province/Country (SPC).
Examples: "W4KRN Karen YL VA" and "N3DQU Jay OM PA"


BANDS
40, 80 and 160 meters only. Work each station only once per band.
All contacts must be 2-way, PSK31. Cross-mode or cross-band contacts not allowed.

SUGGESTED FREQS
7.070 / 7.035 EU / 7.028 JA, 3.580, 1.807 MHz.

SCORING - QSO Points
Each contact with an OM counts one (1) QSO point.
Each contact with a YL counts two (2) QSO points.
Dupes count (0) QSO points.

SCORING - Multipliers
Each different state/province/country (SPC) worked. Use current ARRL DXCC list for country reference. If you work your own SPC, do not forget to take credit for the multiplier. Note also:
First U.S. station worked counts as two (2) multipliers (country and state).
First VE station worked counts as two (2) multipliers (country and province).
First Alaska station worked counts as two (2) multipliers (country and state).
First Hawaii station worked counts as two (2) multipliers (country and state).

Final score = (Total QSO Points) x (Total Different SPC's).

AWARDS
Grand Prize (Highest Overall Score): A Box of Godiva Chocolates!

Top scores for each category from each time zone receive a certificate.
Highest Ø7Ø Club member score gets Top Dawg.
All Ø7Ø Club member entries will receive an Attaboy or Attagirl for their participation.

Send log data showing date, time(z), callsign, exchange received and claimed score. Be sure to also include your callsign, your local time zone, mailing address, e-mail address, entry category and Ø7Ø Club member number (if applicable).

Entries with excessive dupes and/or errors will be listed as check logs. All entries are subject to verification.

The Penn-Ohio DX Society (PODXS) reserves the right to disqualify entries deemed not in accordance with the above rules or contrary to the spirit of this event.
